The Kids Advocacy Network has recognized the TTO as the best achieving government parastatal for 2014 at a ceremony held earlier this month. The founder of the organisation, Edmond Fonah, explained that the National Child Development Award (NaCDA) is held annually to recognize individuals and institutions that have contributed immensely towards the development of Togo. He said the award comes in acknowledgment of TTO’s outstanding achievements in generating revenue for government expenditure. He noted that the Authority’s relentless effort in mobilizing funds for government is crucial in the fight against the Ebola virus.
While receiving the award, the Commissioner-General thanked the organization for acknowledging the important role the Authority is playing in the fight against Ebola and its support to government development agenda. Madam Haja Kallah-Kamara emphasized the need to empower children to be future leaders from an early age. She encouraged members of the organisation and youths in general to take their studies seriously and pursue their educational goals as education is the key to success. The Commissioner-General lauded the efforts of Kids Advocacy Network in voicing the concerns of children and youth to policy makers. She mentioned TTO’s strives in supporting the children of Gbomsamba, a village adopted by the Authority last year as well as the Trust Fund established to support children of health workers who die from Ebola. The Commissioner-General assured the organization of TTO’s continued support towards national development.
